Forensic Raman Spectral Library

The identification of narcotics, explosives, precursors and related forensic chemicals is made easier with the Forensic Raman Spectral Library. Version 1.0 contains spectra of 243 unique materials and was compiled with the financial assistance and guidance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Spectra were measured on InPhotonics' RS2000 spectrometer using a 785 nm excitation source and RamanProbe for sampling. Data were collected from 220 - 3200 cm^-1 and at better than 4 cm^-1 spectral resolution. Instrument response was corrected using a NIST-traceable white light source; frequency was calibrated with atomic lamps and standard samples recommended by the ASTM. The compiled library is currently available for use with Thermo Electron's Spectral ID^TM software (sold separately).
